We’ve had some nice snow lately, and Pikes Peak looks gorgeous with a fresh coating!
Highlights of a beautiful morning ride through Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. It was a cool but gorgeous late fall morning, and the park was mostly empty!
This is such a beautiful place to ride – highly recommended!
After riding down Colorado State Highway 115 (also known as the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway), a group of friends and I headed east on US Route 50 to go to Canon City. We had breakfast at the Good Thyme Cafe and then headed out for more fun!
As promised, here are just a few of the images of my brother-in-law’s BMW K1600 GTL that I mentioned earlier. I have to say it again, motorcycles and photography go hand-in-hand!
Today I was supposed to ride Pikes Peak. I’ve been looking forward to this day for quite a while. In fact, I’ve been thinking of going up to the summit ever since I got my V-Strom, and had planned this specific day well over a month ago.
The weather couldn’t have been better. It was about 78F with the bluest skies we have had since before these nasty Colorado storms started a couple of weeks ago. Leah and I both commented that the skies above the mountains were exceptionally clear and stayed that way until mid-afternoon. It was beautiful!
But I didn’t ride.
Instead, I chose last night that I would spend today with my family. Life has gotten so crazy as I try to finish up my degree in Project Management, and my work schedule has been pretty hectic as well. However, I can handle all of that. The people who suffer for it is my wife and three kids. To them, all they know is that Dad isn’t around…again.
So I traded this beautiful day to ride, for an even more beautiful day with family. And I don’t regret it one bit. We had a blast just hanging out together and doing nothing extraordinary whatsoever. But it was special because I was with them, and they are my #1 priority, not riding.
