Riding in to Canon City

After riding down Colorado State Highway 115 (also known as the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway), a group of friends and I headed east on US Route 50 to go to Canon City. We had breakfast at the Good Thyme Cafe and then headed out for more fun!

The Winter Blues

I admit it. I’ve been a bad blogger lately. It’s not that I don’t have anything to write about; in fact, I have lots of images, videos, and reviews that I want to post! So why don’t I post them?

It seems that I’ve been diagnosed with the winter blues. As I write this, it is a balmy 9F outside and actually -8F with the wind chill. Oh yeah…and there’s ice and snow on the road.

In all reality, I should be thankful that I got to ride all the way until the middle of November. In Colorado, the weather can be very unpredictable from October through May. It’s been a great season and the Bee and I got to spend some nice time together over a distance of 3,000 miles.

That isn’t much to many of you, but for me – a husband, father of three kids, full time student (just graduated), and full time worker – I think 3,000 miles in 6 months is pretty respectable!

So already I feel a little better. Just writing again on my blog makes me feel a little bit more in touch with the bike. I look forward to sharing more pictures, ride videos, and other bits and pieces along the way, and I hope you all will enjoy it too. With a little luck, the winter blues will be gone before too long!

Meanwhile…I’ll be dreaming about warmer weather, and nice open roads like this…

Garden of the Gods

Yesterday I had the opportunity to take a quick morning ride over to Garden of the Gods. It was a chilly (27F), but beautiful morning with endless blue skies. I thought for sure that there would be a lot of people at the park, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had most of it to myself!

In fact, I had Balanced Rock all to myself. That has never happened in over 3 years of visiting there! Normally you have to wait for parking in that section. Mornings like this are ones to remember…and I was still home before 11am to help with family odds and ends. It was a good day!

Hope you enjoy the pictures!
